The 2026 United Cup is generating excitement as it marks an exhilarating beginning to the tennis season, showcasing renowned athletes in Australia. From January 2 to January 11, this prestigious mixed-gender team tournament features a total of 18 nations vying for the championship title in its fourth installment.
As the reigning champions, the United States aim to defend their title, having also claimed victory in the very first edition back in 2023. Germany emerged victorious in 2024, while Poland has been a formidable competitor, finishing as runners-up in both of the preceding years.
This year’s event boasts a star-studded lineup, including four of the top ten male players worldwide: Alexander Zverev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur. On the women's side, three top-ten female stars— Iga Świątek, Coco Gauff, and Jasmine Paolini—are set to compete as well.
The matches are taking place across two cities: Perth and Sydney. This tournament serves not just as a competitive event but also as a crucial preparatory ground for the upcoming Australian Open, which kicks off in Melbourne on January 12.

2026 United Cup - Tournament Format
The competition features six groups, each comprising three teams that face each other in a round-robin format. Three groups are hosted in Perth and the other three in Sydney.
Each tie consists of three matches played on the same day: one men’s singles match, one women’s singles match, and one mixed doubles match. Singles matches are played as best of three tie-break sets, while mixed doubles are contested as the best of two tie-break sets with a deciding 10-point tie-break if the score reaches one set all.
The leading team from each group will progress to the quarter-finals, and an additional knockout position will be awarded to the best runner-up from both Perth and Sydney. Successful teams will advance to the semi-finals and the final, all of which take place in Sydney.
