The controversy surrounding the casting of Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun as the lead actors in the film Dhurandhar has sparked widespread discussion on social media, especially due to the notable 20-year age difference between them. But here’s where it gets intriguing—Sara has recently broken her silence on the matter, emphasizing that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and that she respects diverse perspectives.

In a candid interview with NDTV, Sara addressed the ongoing chatter concerning the age gap. She explained that she was fully aware of the age difference and believed it was justified within the context of the story being told. Importantly, she mentioned deliberately disconnecting from social media prior to the film’s release, which meant she was largely unaware of the online debates surrounding her and Ranveer. By staying away from social platforms, she was able to shield herself from the surrounding 'noise' and keep her focus on her work.
"All the noise happens on social media, right? And I’m not very active there. I didn’t partake much in those discussions... I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion. I firmly believe in 'live and let live.' Their opinions don’t influence how I view things. I knew the story I was part of, and I knew it was justified—that’s all that mattered," Sara shared.
In the film Dhurandhar, Sara plays a character who is a teenager, whereas Ranveer’s role is that of a man in his mid-thirties, highlighting the significant age difference visually and narratively.
Sara also took a moment to praise Ranveer, stating she couldn't have asked for a better co-star. She remarked that no future collaborator could surpass him, as he raised the bar very high. She admired his dedication to his craft and his teamwork-oriented approach. Ranveer’s commitment to the project extended beyond his performance; he was actively involved in every aspect of the filmmaking process, from acting to encouraging collaboration among the entire cast and crew. She emphasized that these qualities made working with him truly special.
As for Dhurandhar, the film has been a major hit at the box office since its release on December 5th of the previous year. Directed by Aditya Dhar, this high-octane spy thriller became the highest-grossing film of 2025, earning over ₹1300 crore globally. Set against the backdrop of Pakistan, the film features Ranveer as an undercover Indian agent infiltrating terrorist networks based in Lyari. The cast also includes notable actors such as Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan. Fans can look forward to the film’s sequel, which is slated for release in theaters in March 2026.
