In January 2025, researchers from the Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre made a groundbreaking discovery. They filmed a sleeper shark, estimated to be an impressive 3 to 4 meters long, leisurely swimming in the pitch-black waters of the Antarctic Ocean, near the South Shetland Islands.
