I can't stand the iPhone's new alarm slider! But there's a way to get rid of it, and I'm here to show you how.
Alarms are a necessary evil, but when they go off unexpectedly or take forever to turn off, it can be a real headache, especially when you have a newborn and a sleep-deprived spouse depending on you.
Apple's recent iOS update introduced a slider to turn off alarms, which was supposedly designed to prevent accidental taps. But in practice, it's more frustrating than helpful, leaving you fumbling around in a panic, trying to figure out why your alarm won't stop.
And this is where it gets controversial: some people might argue that the slider is a necessary evil to prevent accidental alarms, but I, for one, find it more annoying than useful.
So, if you're with me on this, here's how to bring back the good old stop button and say goodbye to the slider:
- Open your iPhone's Settings.
- Navigate to Accessibility.
- Select Touch.
- Enable the Prefer Single-Touch Actions toggle near the bottom.
And that's it! With this simple toggle, you can now tap the screen to stop the alarm, just like the good old days.
But here's the catch: while this toggle doesn't seem to affect other iPhone functions right now, Apple could change that in future updates. So, it's a bit of a gamble, but one that might be worth it for a more peaceful morning routine.
If you ever want to bring the slider back, simply repeat the steps above and disable the Prefer Single-Touch Actions toggle.
