Morcant introduces a brand-new mechanic, 'Blight,' which forces opponents to place -1/-1 counters on their creatures. This mechanic harkens back to the original Lorwyn block, where -1/-1 counters were a significant feature. The Jund precon, aptly named 'Blight Curse,' further emphasizes this theme.
And that's not all—Morcant's ability to proliferate counters is a game-changer. Each elf that enters under your control triggers a blight on your opponent, and you can tap elves to proliferate, spreading those -1/-1 counters like wildfire. But wait, there's a twist! This also enhances any +1/+1 or loyalty counters you have, making Morcant a versatile and potentially devastating commander.
