Elon Musk's Net Worth Surpasses $600 Billion: A Journey to Trillionaire Status
The world's richest person, Elon Musk, has just achieved another remarkable milestone, thanks to the soaring valuation of his rocket maker SpaceX. According to Forbes, the company's recent tender offer values SpaceX at an astonishing $800 billion, up from $400 billion in August. This significant increase boosts Musk's fortune by $168 billion, bringing his net worth to an estimated $677 billion as of Monday. Musk becomes the first person ever to surpass the $600 billion mark, leaving the $500 billion threshold in the dust.
The tender offer comes on the heels of SpaceX's planned initial public offering (IPO) in 2026, which could value the company at around $1.5 trillion. This potential valuation, confirmed by one of the company's investors, further solidifies Musk's position as a trillionaire in the making. However, even without the IPO, SpaceX's current valuation is Musk's most valuable asset, with his estimated $336 billion stake in the company.
Musk's other assets, such as his 12% stake in Tesla, are also substantial. Excluding stock options from his 2018 CEO Performance Award, which were voided by a Delaware judge, Tesla's stake is worth $197 billion. However, the options' value has been discounted by 50%, reducing their worth to $69 billion. Tesla's record-breaking pay package, approved by shareholders in November, could potentially make Musk a trillionaire if Tesla achieves its 'Mars shot' performance milestones, such as growing its market cap more than eightfold over the next decade.
Additionally, Musk's xAI Holdings is reportedly in talks to raise new funding at a $230 billion valuation, more than double the $113 billion valuation he claimed when forming the company in March. Musk's ownership of a 53% stake in xAI Holdings is valued at $60 billion. These milestones, combined with Musk's lead over the current No. 2 richest person, Google co-founder Larry Page, who is worth an estimated $252 billion, make him even closer to becoming a trillionaire. With just $23 billion needed to reach the $700 billion mark, Musk's journey to trillionaire status is an ongoing saga that continues to captivate the world.
